The new SBS drama “Yong Pal” is off to a powerful start, taking first place in its time slot in terms of number of viewers. The viewer rating for the first episode was 9.2 percent. It is a bit lower than the last episode of the previous drama “Mask,” which reached 12.6 percent, but it was 1.7 percent higher than the first episode of “Mask.”
“Yong Pal” is about an immoral, yet extremely competent surgeon Yong Pal, played by Joo Won, who does not mind attending to even the mafia, as long as there is money involved. Yong Pal meets an heiress, played by Kim Tae Hee, who is asleep in the hospital.
The other dramas in this time slot include “Scholar Who Walks the Night” (7.4 percent), and “Assembly” (4.7 percent).
Girls’ Generation’s “Party” repeats as No. 1 this week with another easy win. This song topped the Inkigayo chart again last week and still ranked high on all chart sources. As a result, “Party” defeats two new top 10 entries by a healthy margin. Congratulations again to Girls’ Generations.
Moving up 14 spots to No. 2 is INFINITE’s “Bad.” This song is the title track of INFINITE’s fifth mini-album “Reality.” It is a vintage style INFINITE dance hit song with electronic beats. The lyrics are about a man who cannot let go his love even though he knows it is bad and she’ll hurt him. “Bad” won on four music shows last week: Music Core, Music Bank, M!Countdown, and Show Champion. However, it did not score nearly as well as “Party” in other chart sources so it has to settle for No. 2 this week.
Rounding out the top three is another new song. Moving up 12 spots to No. 3 isA Pink’s new song “Remember.” It is the title track of their second full album“Pink Memory.” Working again with Shinsadong Tiger, who wrote most of A Pink’s successful hit songs, “Remember” has upbeat rhythm and lyrical melody. The song starts slowly but the melody picks up and is fast paced in the chorus part.
One more new song in the top 10 and it is at No. 9. Moving up nine spots isSuper Junior’s “Devil.” This song is coming from their 10th Anniversary Special Album of the same name. “Devil” is jointly written by Kenzie and Stereotypes, who works with Justin Bieber and Chris Brown. It has trendy dance melodies. The lyrics are about the honest confession of a man falling in love with vicious tendencies of the “Devil” expression.
On August 5, Chinese reports claimed that former co-stars Song Seung Hunand Chinese actress Liu Yifei (Crystal Liu) are dating. They previously appeared as lovers in the film “Third Love.”
The reports also revealed photos of the couple and claimed that they also visited the actress’ vacation home and met her family.
These photos show the actors outside and inside of a vehicle:
The following photos show their vehicle entering the actress’ vacation home as well as the actress with her family members:
The pair are 11 years apart in age with Song Seung Hun being 39 and Liu Yifei being 28.
Meanwhile, the actor’s agency has confirmed their relationship after checking with the actor. They stated, “After finishing filming they were unable to see each other often, but they kept in touch and started their relationship. Please look after them positively.”
They continued, “It is untrue that they have met each other’s parents. They have not spoken about marriage yet.”
Kim So Eun, who is currently acting in the historical drama “Scholar Who Walks the Night” did away with the traditional clothing and transformed into a modern, elegant beauty for Grazia magazine.
On August 6, Grazia released the fall makeup pictorial of the beautiful actress. They released four photos of different makeup styles with the help of Siero Cosmetics. The looks were inspired by different regions of Italy including Rome, Venice, and Sardinia.
In the pictures, she is as breathtaking as ever, looking sexy and elegant at the same time.
Meanwhile, Kim So Eun is currently starring in “Scholar Who Walks the Night” as the past lover of the main character, Sung Yeol (played by Lee Jun Ki).
In the new upcoming medical drama “Yong-pal,” popular actress Kim Tae-hee takes the role of Han Yeo-jin, a chaebol heiress who is in the hospital for a prolonged period from a medically induced coma.
Dubbed as the “sleeping beauty,” she lies down on the VIP floor of the hospital as a result of her wicked half-brother’s scheme to take control of the company.
That is, until her so-called prince comes to rescue. The prince is actor Joo Won, who takes the role of a talented surgeon Kim Tae-hyun, who accidentally runs into Yeo-jin in a coma.
Kim — who is returning to the small screen after a two-year hiatus since 2013 periodic drama “Jang Ok-jung, Living by Love” — decided to focus on feelings of despair and revenge in playing a mysterious, multimillionaire heiress Yeo-jin.

“When other people see her, she may have everything,” Kim said. “But she lost everything that is important in her life, including family, love and friends. She could be the most miserable woman.”
Opposite Kim, Joo Won is gearing up for his second doctor’s role in “Yong-pal.” In 2013, he played an autistic savant surgeon in “Good Doctor.”
“After starring in ‘Good Doctor,’ I have wondered if I will be able to play in another medical drama,” said Joo referring to difficulties of medical drama which includes hard medical jargons. “But when I read the script to ‘Yong-pal,’ my mind immediately changed. It’s a different kind of medical drama, with an unconventional plot.”
“The drama’s script came at a time when I felt the need to change as an actor, by taking on unique and different roles from the past,” he said.
His role Tae-hyun is an atypical surgeon who is on house call for any patients — including gang members — in private places to pay off the debt caused by his sick younger sister.
“I went inside the sewage, abandoned factories and room salons,” said Joo, adding that the experience was very interesting.

In a perfect world, there would be three extra days in a week … Three extra weekend days that we can devote to our K-drama addiction, re-watching the best scenes from the latest episodes of our favorite shows. Which new K-drama moments had us wishing for this perfect world? Let’s take a look at the list!
1. “Scholar Who Walks The Night”: Dream just got real
After a spirited drinking contest with the crown prince, Yang Sun is left alone and tends to his business. Sang Yeol shows up and escorts her home, surprised to see him. Believing she’s dreaming, she confesses her feelings for him, and he is stunned. On the way home, he gifts her shoes, and she gushes over them. She soon gives him a kiss and openly notes that both their hearts were fluttering, so, she must not be dreaming. Sung Yeol tells her differently, assuring her it’s a dream. He tells her to forget about everything that is about to happen then, and with that, he kisses her deeply.
Real life is sometimes better than our dreams, and with such a passionate kiss, we’re surprised Sang Yeol didn’t sober right up.
2. “The Time We Were Not In Love”: Favorite nurse
Won has waited all night in the rain for Ha Na to turn up at their hideout, but she doesn’t make it. So, not only is he not able to give her the necklace he bought for her, he ends up getting sick. The next day, he’s bedridden all day, and Ha Na, who’s been unable to get a hold of him, checks up on him later that night.
When she sees his condition, she takes care of him despite Won’s supposed lack of appreciation for her disastrous cooking. LOL. She even spends the night in his room, sleeping on the floor next to his bed. Maybe it’s due to Ha Na’s presence or her unappetizing congee, which he completely finishes up anyway, but Won wakes up the next day almost completely recovered.
If things can work out for these two, then their coupled life will be just like this, except maybe more intimate … Sometimes, we wish this show were on cable because maybe the story could have been re-written to have Ha Na lending her body heat to Won while he’s got the chills. Hehe.
3. “Oh My Ghost”: Jealousy is an evil thing, honey!
Sun Woo prides himself on being a fair boss. He’s the type of guy who works his employees hard because he believes in them and gives them room to fail as he knows that success doesn’t usually come after one try. So, if there’s a list of fair, honest bosses, he’d put himself on it, and this is why this scene is especially hilarious.
Seo Joon is the quiet, observant employee who clearly has a thing for Bong Sun. Soon Ae (in Bong Sun’s body) enjoys his attention but isn’t clued in to his feelings. Sun Woo quickly becomes a green-eyed monster when he sees the pleasant interactions between the two. So, when he initiates a friendly cooking competition between his employees and Soon Ae-Bong Sun cheers loudly for Seo Joon, Sun Woo doesn’t award him the grand prize despite his dish being the best.
Sun Woo sunbae, green is so not your color!
5. “I Remember You”: Pleasantly unexpected
Ji An is more thankful to be alive after her near death experience. She recounts to Lee Hyun all her thoughts up until she was saved. She expresses her ability to empathize with her dad’s feelings and shares her sadness over the idea of not seeing Lee Hyun again. He smirks at her confession and lets her know it’s all right because they were able to meet again. The moment intensifies as she kisses him.
Lee Hyun didn’t see this coming, and apparently, neither did Ji An, but we’re glad she took action because we love them together!
5. “Orange Marmalade”: Timeless romance
“Orange Marmalade” closed its final chapter with Jae Min and Ma Ri enjoying an afternoon picnic together. Jae Min asks her why she didn’t mention that the sweet human blood means something special for vampires. She tells him that she doesn’t want to rely on fate to determine her love because even without it, she’ll still surely end up with Jae Min. And of course, what’s the best way for this story to end? How about a kiss between the young lovers?
“Orange Marmalade” might not resonate with everyone, but this was still a memorable drama for its unique way of showing that a love that’s meant to be always has hope.
6. “High Society”: Her voice pierces
Ji Yi and Chang Soo have finally reached a breaking point in their relationship, and one night, Chang Soo visits Ji Yi just to have a glimpse of her. He keeps his distance from her and secretly listens to her express her desire to settle in one place someday. He lingers out of her sight and continues to take in her thoughts. Her voice is enough to bring him to tears.
Chang Soo’s love for Ji Yi changed him without him realizing how. Happiness is the best cure for a heartbreak, and these two deserve their happy ending!
7. “Mask”: Power of Love
A top moment is a memorable moment that touches you. It can make you cry, make your heart flutter, or even make you laugh. This one definitely made us laugh—for the wrong reasons.
For an inexplicable reason, Ji Sook put her life in her enemy’s hands and predictably got an attempted murder in return. We didn’t laugh because Ji Sook regained consciousness in a burning room and couldn’t do the most obvious thing of jumping out of the window behind her. Okay, we’re lying because that definitely made us laugh. But what made us laugh even harder was that upon seeing the burning house, Min Woo, who’s got a water phobia and can’t swim, suddenly gained Michael Phelps’ skills and began to swim to Ji Sook! The power of love indeed.
That’s all for now, everyone! Shout out your thoughts and favorite scenes, and let’s do it again next week!
